3 Places We Like to Spend Family Time In Chicago

Disclosure: I’ve joined Generation Graco and have been compensated for writing this post.

Chicago is full of places for families to spend time together all year round. There are free outdoor movie nights put on by the city, lots of parks that are kid friendly, and a whole bevy of kid friendly stores. Out of all of the options three of our favorite places to spend time as a family include:

1.) Labriola Café in Oak Brook

This place is has great service, food, coffee, desserts, wine and beer. We often eat out on the patio when the weather is nice. Its usually easy to find a place to sit too. I also like it because there are changing tables in the men’s restroom. Many places that it not the case. There is a kids menu and plenty of highchairs. There is a location in Oak Brook but there is also a location on North Michigan Ave. in Chicago.

2.) Tivoli Theatre

The Tivoli Theatre opened on Christmas Day in 1928. It was one of the first theaters in the US to feature “talkies” and has undergone a number of restorations since that time. It is currently has a 1,000 seat auditorium that not only features movies, but also special events, kids summer movie camps and live musical performances. It is equipped with Enhanced 4K Digital Projection and Datasat 7.1 Sound. Admission starts at just $5.00. To get the full Tivoli Theatre show up early on Friday and Saturday nights to hear their Wurlitzer Pipe Organ played before the show!

You can read more of the history of the location, purchase movie tickets and more at ClassicCinemas.com

3.) Brookfield Zoo

This is the biggest of the Chicago zoos. It is also open year round and features special events like zoo brews, laser light shows, Christmas walks and more. There are plenty of animals and interactive exhibits to keep the family busy. Playgrounds and open spaces also let the kids burn off energy while giving the parents a few moments to relax. We visit at least a few times a year because there is always something new to see.
