I had a summer job for a few weeks as a painter’s assistant when I was in my teens. My title was “Painter’s Assistant” because I couldn’t cut it as an actual painter. While I picked up a few tips on how to complete a professional looking paint job from my boss, they were never put to use. I was thinking about that recently when inspiration hit. I’ve been in the same office with the same paint job for nearly a decade. That’s why I decided to finally spruce up my office with a little chalkboard paint.
It’s been nearly 20 years since I painted anything on my own so all those tips and tricks my old boss “taught me” were lost to time. My memory isn’t what it used to be now that I’ve got kids and a full prescription of newborn sleeplessness. That’s where the DIYZ app helped me out! The “How to Paint a Room” app project was exactly what I needed to get going on my office. It covered the whole process in an easy-to-follow step-by-step video format. It was a great refresher on what I already knew and it gave me some tips on things that were new. The DIYZ app also allows users to speak directly with a professional contractor if you get stuck or want to run something past a pro. This feature is right at your fingertips via video chat, however, you can also disable the video option and just engage with a Pro Advisor with a voice only call.
This was such a fun project to work on. It was also a cool project to capture on my 360-degree camera. Over the process of three days, (because of my work schedule and personal responsibilities,) I turned a bright blue office wall into a giant chalkboard that my kid and I both love to drawn on.

No one wants to hang a TV and have it drop! That’s my worst fear, but with the app by my side, I have the confidence to finally get this done!
