I started writing this series the morning I got an email from my son’s school issuing a notice saying that the schools would be closed for at least two weeks (but likely longer) due to the current Covid-19 outbreak. Many parents are in the same spot. This is why I’m doing this.
Each day I’ll share a simple activity that you can do with your kids that will help pass the time. Sometimes these with be educational. Sometimes these activities will be family projects. Sometimes they will simply be entertainment options.

Day Seventeen: Fill In The Blank Printables
Kids love hearing stories. They love telling stories too. Sometimes they make sense. Sometimes the stories they come up with are a confusing hilarious mess. That’s why Fill In The Blank Printables are awesome. The kids can be funny, or serious, or goofy and interaction with parents is easy and fun.
Here’s a short list of some Fill In The Blank Printables you can for free online:
- Mad Libs has a small collection of printable for free.
- Education.com has a free “Fill in a Funny Story” collection.
- Adlib, from BAB Books, gives you an online way to get a random story.
- Microsoft has a Fun Fill-in Story downloadable for Word or Open Office.
- Super Easy Storytelling has some fill in the blank stories as well as other writing story activities.
BONUS: Kids Can Have Fun have a collection of storybook templates for younger children that can be fun.
