My wife, Mr. Dude and I attended Boo! at the Zoo this past weekend and had a blast. We got to wear the Angry Birds costumes Abigail made and Mr. Dude was so proud of wearing. We are members of the Brookfield Zoo but, honestly, wouldn't have attended the event (or even known about it) without the generous invite to it by the Ferrara Candy Company for the invite.
My small family right now is almost perfect. I am amazed at the little person my son has become. He...
Mr. Dude colored in his brand new coloring book and Abigail and I got to talk through out most of breakfast. It was glorious. Oh, and the food was great too. I had biscuits and gravy, scrambled eggs, bacon, grits, some apples and a few bites of Mr. Dude's leftover pancakes. The best part? I didn't have to do the dishes afterwards. All I had to do was pay and leave a tip!

Medieval Times invited us to attend a show at their Schaumburg, IL location last month and we gladly accepted. Mr. Dude had been once before, but was a bit too young to remember much. If you’ve never been it’s an event space focused on the storybook times of kings, knights,...
We have a little dare devil on our hands. This was never more clear to us than the first time we took Mr. Dude into a fair type atmosphere where he was actually big enough to ride the rides. Standing at just over 36 inches (36.8" to be exact) Mr. Dude could ride many, but not all of the rides at Navy Pier's Winter Wonderfest last month.
Visiting the Zoo Lights at Chicago’s Lincoln Park Zoo is one of our annual traditions. We skip it when the...
We quickly realized that getting home from San Francisco over the weekend start of Fleet Week was going to be impossible so we spent a couple of days up north in the California Redwoods. The first thing we did before the long trip north? We check-out of our hotel and then...
I have not worn a tuxedo since I got married almost ten years ago. It made my toddler uncomfortable.
One of the reasons I love my wife is her spontaneity. Thanks to her we got to ride Chicago's Ferris Wheel at Navy Pier one last time before it closed for good.
We spent a few days in Indianapolis recently visiting friends and spending some time away from our everyday lives. There is so much to look at we spent the whole day there and didn't see everything. Mr. Dude, our two-year-old, had an absolute blast!
I was in my 30s before I participated in my first 5k. My son, however, participated in his first 5k...
I got to attend a live broadcast taping of the local Chicago daytime show Windy City Live that airs weekdays from 11am – 12pm on ABC 7. Monday’s show theme was “1st Class Dads.” Melvin (of GuinnTribe) met me at my place early Monday morning and we took the train...

I was able to attend the 2014 Dad 2.0 Summit in New Orleans earlier this month. It was awesome.
I attended my first Meetup for the Chicago Dads MeetUp group last month. The night started a bit slowly. I got to Haymarket Pub & Brewery early and wasn’t totally sure about meeting a whole new group of people. I honestly didn’t know what anyone looked like!...
