Amerika, I’m Disappointed In You…

I believed better of Amerika back in 2024. I didn't love Harris as a candidate, but knew then (and now) that she was the far better choice to Trump. The shock has turned into fear, then numbness, and now it is birthing rage.

“Ernest Saves Christmas” (1988)

Directed by John Cherry

High-flying reindeer! Mischievous elves! Warp-speed sleigh rides! Get set for a magical dose of holiday cheer, zany season’s greetings, and spell-binding special effects in this fast-paced, heartwarming comedy hit! When Santa Claus decides to retire and pass on his magic bag of Christmas surprises to a new St. Nick, he enlists the aid of a hilarious assortment of characters, including that lovable know-it-all Ernest P. Worrell (Emmy Award-winning comedian Jim Varney)!

Along the way, Santa and Ernest help a cynical teen experience the season’s spirit like never before. And that’s where the fun — and magic — begin! ERNEST SAVES CHRISTMAS … one delightful, surprising tale you’ll never forget!

Jim Varney was a hilarious character actor best known by many for his work as Ernest P. Worrell in commercials, a television series, and several movie outings. He was also a stand-up comic, held several parts in various other non-Ernest based TV shows & movies, and gained fame later in life as the voice of Slinky Dog in the Toy Story franchise.

This movie is hilariously cheesy 1980s fun that I remember seeing as soon as it hit our local Blockbuster. To this day I love watching Ernest Saves Christmas every holiday season while my wife and kids roll their eyes at even the suggestion of it.
