I believed better of Amerika back in 2024. I didn't love Harris as a candidate, but knew then (and now) that she was the far better choice to Trump. The shock has turned into fear, then numbness, and now it is birthing rage.

We quickly realized that getting home from San Francisco over the weekend start of Fleet Week was going to be impossible so we spent a couple of days up north in the California Redwoods. The first thing we did before the long trip north? We check-out of our hotel and then stopped for tacos.

San Francisco Taco Joint

These tacos were so tasty. I’d recommend Taqueria La Morena for anyone looking for a relaxed and affordable place to dine.

We then headed out of the city and drove across the Golden Gate Bridge. It was my first time across the bridge. Mr. Dude’s too. He was pretty excited about it.

California Redwoods

The size of these trees were amazing to me and there’s not a lot that impresses me. On our way north we saw a sign for a stop off so we did. Just to look and take some pictures.

Shoes in the California Redwoords

I, of course, had to take a shoe picture, and Mr. Dude wanted to get in on it.

Abigail got a photo of us taking the shoe picture.

We finally made it all the way to our first destination at the end of the day. We drove through a tree!

A bit of rock collecting and an energy burning run were next for Mr. Dude.

That night we found a burger place near our hotel that turned out to have live music that evening. The hotel stay was uneventful because I did homework and dealt with the hotel’s sucky Internet. Eventually, I gave up on connecting and just used my phone as a hotspot to turn in my paper on time.

Thoughtful Toddler

The next morning we had breakfast and I caught this image of Mr. Dude at breakfast in seemingly deep thought.

We headed north, but when we saw a beach we had to stop, just for a bit. Mr. Dude loved playing in the sand.

Toddler lost a shoe on the beach!

His shoes totally got in the way so they came off pretty quickly.

Trees of Mystery Klamath California

We ended our day at The Trees of Mystery and enjoyed a ride on the Sky Trail trough the tree tops.

Our trip home the next day was interesting. The way the flight loads were forced us to fly home to Chicago from San Fransisco via a short overnight layover in DC. Not exciting, but it worked out in the end. Mr. Dude loves planes and did extremely well. His excitement and curiosity inspire me every day.
