My wife and I have been married for ten years as of April 17, 2016. We both had some vacation time to use so we took a trip to Spain. Mr. Dude is too little to be left at home with a sitter for a week while Mom and Dad travel the globe so he came with us to Madrid.
We flew standby from Chicago to Newark and then Newark to Madrid. Mr. Dude was a real trooper. It was his third time to Europe (previously visited London and The Netherlands.) We did a lot of public transit, food sampling, photos and general family time. Enjoy or skip the photo overload below:
It rained the day we visited the Royal Palace.
The whole time we were there Mr. Dude repeatedly and loudly asked for snacks.
Hanging out at an outdoor cafe in Madrid. I could totally get used to this sort of thing.
After a long day out and about Mr. Dude needed some time to veg. It just so happened to take place while we had dinner.
Preschool yoga professional doing his morning stretches.
We spent part of our 10th anniversary in a boat.
My Hard Rock Cafe meal.
Mr. Dude was pretending to play the guitar for most of his meal.
The obligatory proof photo of my Hard Rock Cafe visit.
The pizza wasn’t that great, but the company was wonderful.
It took a few days, but I found some Mountain Dew.
Moments before the video below was shot, Mr. Dude was out cold.
The post-nap Teleférico trip photo.
We took the subway everywhere in Madrid. The 5-day tourist passes we got worked out perfectly.
Mr. Dude had all sorts of feeling about the subway system in Madrid.
Preschool life is a pretty good life. Too cool for the camera here.
Rockstar in the making?
Mr. Dude did a great job on the way back to the U.S. It was smiles and naps most of the way home.
Our view on the way home.
Mr. Dude loved dancing in Newark airport.
He was over it by the time we got back to Chicago, but I don’t blame him. I basically was too.
