DADS & MOMS: This Father’s Day, I was proud to partner with Dove Men+Care and take the #PaternityLeavePledge.

I wasn’t offered Paternity Leave when we had our first, so I took two weeks earned vacation time. It made all the difference in starting off parenthood with a strong bond with my small growing family. Now we can goof-off and have fun no matter what the circumstance.

The photo at the top of this post is of Wes and I in North Dakota a couple years ago. We we had so much fun on this road trip and taking photos while out and about on the trails. I’d like to think that is because of the way we started our journey: together and at home instead of apart because of the typical Paternity Leave policies that can be found around the nation.

Now I’ve joined the Advocates for Paternity Leave Facebook group and committed to take small but meaningful steps in the fight for paid leave legislation. Please join me, and hundreds of other parents, in the fight for progress in parental benefits around the country.
