Disclosure: I’ve joined the Netflix #StreamTeam and have been compensated for writing this post.

I used to watch a lot of movies before I was a parent. I always joked with my wife that I was making up for lost time from when I was a kid. I grew up in a fairly conservative environment, so a lot of the classic movies that everyone has seen are still on my “to watch” list. That list is pretty long now and has proven to be more of a challenge since fatherhood started for me. I however am left with no excuse now for not having seen the following 5 classic movies since they are on Netflix and I can watch them anywhere I’ve got Internet access. Just to spice this post up a bit I’m listing the movies & explaining what I think they are about before having actually seen them. I hope you enjoy!

Bill_And_Ted
Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure
(1989)

This is a story of two brothers who travel through time and space much like the Doctor. Except they do so with a total lack of motivation to accomplish anything. The telephone booth is their TARDIS and they are in fact some not so undercover agents of a weed collective.

Total_Recall

Total Recall (1990)

I’d really like to see the Total Recall remake from 2012, but feel as if I need to see the original first in order to appreciate it. Based on what’s I’ve heard people reference about this movies I think it has something to do with the Terminator franchise. Just not in an official manner, of course.

There are killer robots in need of being recalled and John Connor (I mean Arnold) is responsible to take care of things. This is all happening because when he was little he told his parents he hated them and then created these killer robots to take them out. It wasn’t until years later that he realized the error of his ways, after they’ve killed many more innocents and he ordered a Total Recall. The movie then has lots of explosions in it.

Waynes_World

Wayne’s World (1992)

This movie focuses on two best friends who want to open an ice cream truck business. They have to start out on bicycles (and they crash ’em a lot) before they hit it big after winning a battle of the bands air guitar contest at a local library bar. Or something along those lines. This movie is in some way connected to Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure is it not?

GoodWillHunting

Good Will Hunting (1997)

This is a movie about a kid’s search for acceptance at college. He gets help finding it from an eccentric and lonely teacher. Ben Affleck is in the movie too. I have no idea what role he plays in the story line. This was the first movie Ben & Matt were in together too, right? I feel as if I should cry when I watch it. True?

TheBigLebowski

The Big Lebowski (1998)

This movie is all about “The Dude.” He’s an avid bowler and smoker who is fine minding his own business until one day a trouble making road trip couple shows up. They’ve got nefarious plans up their sleeves and he realizes it just in time to do something about it and have fun while doing it.

And now, off to actually watch these thanks to Netflix!
