It has been a long time since I've owned a Windows PC. When Best Buy asked me to take a look at the new AMD FX APU – HP Envy Touchsmart Laptop I was genuinely interested to see how Windows was doing these days. I have to admit, I wasn't ready for what a great computer this thing has turned out to be for me.
My favorite place to eat with my dad as a kid was Denny's. I could have breakfast there anytime. That made me smile like nothing else could.
I swore it would never happen. I didn't have a clue. The rules I had set up for myself in my pre-child world didn't stand a chance once I became a dad. Here are six ways I've changed my standards since becoming one.
I grew up watching shows like Saved By The Bell, Star Trek: TNG and Godzilla among others. Thanks to Netflix I can rewatch most of it all over again!
Including his teachers, civil leaders and me. I’ve always been a very “by the rules” type of person. I was raised to follow the rules. If I didn’t listen the first time my parents said something there was a price to pay for it. I was never afraid of abuse, but I understood what was […]
Our floors have never looked so good. Seriously. The scheduling thing is a life saver. Life is busy and always full of things to do. The iRobot Roomba 870 has been able to take care of our floors when we can't take care of them ourselves. Its available for purchase at Best Buy right now. Now that we have one in our home I can't imagine ever giving it up.
Dad blogging lost one of its heroes this past weekend. His name was Oren Miller and cancer took him from us. Oren started a Facebook group in December of 2012. His goal was to create a community for dads to share ideas, increase their influence and help create a better form of fatherhood. He simply named it Dad Bloggers.
I grew up watching Star Trek reruns on TV and watched the movies on repeat through elementary, middle and high school. Spock was an iconic character from the future brought to life in only the way Leonard Nimoy could have done. I had wanted to meet him in person, but sadly was never afforded the chance. The way I view the world was largely shaped by this practical and logical (sometimes even playful) character in a fictitious science fiction universe. I'm sad to see him gone.
I was clueless when I first became a dad. My childcare experience consisted of knowing that dropping a baby is bad and how to make peanut butter & jelly sandwiches. The first diaper I ever changed was Mr. Dude's on the day he was born. I'd "watched" my nephews once or twice, but never for over an hour and always with the assistance of a television.
My wife and I got married young. I worked at a grocery store and she at a fast food restaurant back then. We were happy, but didn't have much. The household items we owned were basic and mostly got the job done. That was almost ten years ago. We've not been pleased with any of the vacuums we've used over the last several years. That is until we got the new Dyson Cinetic Big Ball Animal + Allergy.
