A couple weeks ago I got a call from Abigail saying the elective ultrasound place we had an appointment had canceled. Their machine broke and they were not rescheduling yet because they didn’t know when the machine would be fixed. What now? It was Friday morning and she wanted to share with her family what the baby was going to be on Sunday. If we couldn’t make it work we’d have to wait two more weeks until the next family get together. She wasn’t keen on the idea of waiting. At all.

“How is this gonna work Joel? Find a place.”

So I did. We had an appointment on that Saturday for an elective ultrasound. The tech, as we requested, did the ultrasound and had us close our eyes when the baby was cooperative about showing what it was. The results were put in an envelope and sealed. Beyond the results in the envelope we also purchased a DVD of the scan. It also had the results in it. It was so hard for me not to watch the DVD that night. I really wanted to know what we were having!

Turns out its pretty hard to find a bakery that will make a special order cake with less than 16 hours notice. Thankfully my buddy at work (who is a great baker btw) offered to make a cake for us to use for the gender reveal. Not only did it serve its purpose, but it also tasted great!
