“The Christmas Tree Train” (1983)

Directed by Bill Hutten & Tony Love

Bear cub, Buttons, and his fox companion, Rusty, take a ride on a freight train bound for the city. Now they’re lost and must get home before Christmas but first they gotta dodge people, cars, and other dangers.

I had never heard of Chucklewood Critters: The Christmas Tree Train holiday special before I was married. It, however, was a formidable part of my wife’s growing up. She and her siblings fondly remember watching it as children even to this day.

The special is not currently for sale anywhere online (that I can tell) outside of a few second hand sales posted on VHS for upwards of triple digits. We have a VHS tape (transferred to a DVD) that we watch it from every year. Although, you can currently find it on YouTube.

Have you seen the TV special? What did you think? Let me know in the comments and on social.
