Neil Young, Canadian singer-songwriter with dozens of albums and tens of millions of copies sold, recently gave notice to Spotify that they could have his music or shock jock and disinformation junkie Joe Rogan on their service, not both.

“They can have Rogan or Young,” Neil Young wrote in a letter to his manager and label posted and then removed from his website. “Not both”

This letter was posted after “A call from the global scientific and medical communities to implement a misinformation policy” was shared by 270 leaders in the scientific and medical communities aimed at Spotify in an effort to remove the host from their services.

“Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, Joe Rogan has repeatedly spread misleading and false claims on his podcast, provoking distrust in science and medicine,” the letter from experts states.

Now, it turns out that money is more important to Spotify than the safety of its listeners. While Young stands to lose 60% of his streaming income. It was announced today that Spotify is taking down Neil Young’s music.

Close Your Free Spotify User Account

You can cancel your own account if you have a Free Spotify account. Visit this link and follow the steps:

1.) When they ask “Sure you need to close?” click on “Close Account”

2.) Confirm that you are closing the correct account and click “Continue”

3.) Mark the box next to “I understand” and click “Continue”

4.) Check your email inbox and click on the link to close your account.

If you don’t click that link your account will not be closed.

5.) Once you click that link your account will be closed. However, you’ll need to ignore the link that Spotify will try and send you within 7 days asking you to reactivate your account in order to keep it closed.

Close Your Premium (Paid) Spotify Account

To close (delete) your account with Spotify permanently you will need to contact customer support and request that they do it for you.

When asked why, please tell them that you believe in science and disagree with their keeping of Joe Rogan’s podcast.
