A Boy Called Christmas” (2021)

Directed by Gil Kenan

An ordinary young boy called Nikolas sets out on an extraordinary adventure into the snowy north in search of his father who is on a quest to discover the fabled village of the elves, Elfhelm. Taking with him a headstrong reindeer called Blitzen and a loyal pet mouse, Nikolas soon meets his destiny in this magical, comic and endearing story that proves nothing is impossible.

Netflix hit it out of the park with this one. The Christmas stories that dominate the holiday seasons don’t often get a breath of fresh air or new views on what the mythos of Christmas might be made of through stories of adventure and exploration. “A Boy Called Christmas” does just this. It’s a new way of looking at the holiday and is a worthwhile adventure I look forward to watching again and again each holiday season.
