For three years Chicagoans have waited patiently for Lagunitas TapRoom & Beer Sanctuary to reopen. Well, the wait is over, and it officially opens to the public on Thursday, April 13! The Lagunitas Brewing Company, the OG of IPA that has a rich, mischievous history of hop-forward and innovative craft brews, is reopening its Chicago TapRoom & […]
If you know anything about me you'll know that I'm a father, a tech geek, and a beer nerd. Breweries are great to visit, but are not a necessity to celebrate. Grocery stores, liquor stores, beer festivals, restaurants, bars, and even personal collections can keep beers in your hands.
I’d wanted to start a podcast of my own for years, but never took steps to do it myself. Thanks to my phone, Adobe Audition, WordPress, and the Seriously Simple Podcasting plugin I started one.
I’ve only just gotten into drinking beer in the last year or two. One big reason is that the only beers I had only had crap beers until recently. My first beer was a can of Coors, purchased by a friend. It was 2008 and I’d never had a beer before. It was not a […]
I attended my first Meetup for the Chicago Dads MeetUp group last month. The night started a bit slowly. I got to Haymarket Pub & Brewery early and wasn’t totally sure about meeting a whole new group of people. I honestly didn’t know what anyone looked like!
Fatherhood is something I am still getting used to, but seems to fit me well. Being a dad is incredible. Every day I have the ability to build a stronger bond with my son. I have a million choices to make about where I spend my time. The effects of those choices will be life […]
This past weekend I was able to have a guys night out (Dadchelor Party) in celebration of my soon to be born son.
We bottled the beer this week. It was a process I’ve never taken part in before, but really enjoyed. We cleaned bottled, sanitized oxygen sealing caps, filled the bottles, etc. If the taste tests are any indications, it’s going to be amazing! Its smooth, dark and has a light coffee flavor. Now we just wait for the […]
I’m having a Dad-chelor party next month. The idea is similar to a bachelor party. Starting fatherhood is a big step so I wanted to get a group of guys who are important in my life right now together to celebrate the end of childlessness.
I’m not a big beer drinker. I do like beer though. I like it dark and complex. I only drink beer when out with the guys (doesn’t happen often enough) or on special occasions like a sporting event or celebration. The birth of my child fits into the celebration category in my book.
