Earlier this year Denny’s had a great campaign that centered around the characters from the online animated video series, The Grand Slams, hosting a QVC-style show in which everything they featured was absolutely free (Zero Easy Payments). As part of the campaign, fans could visit a website for a chance to get all kinds of free Denny’s schwag—everything from t-shirts to coffee mugs, they even had Denny’s skateboard decks.

I’m a nerd. The amount of cool stuff that goes on now related to technology is amazing to me. Given the response of the first effort, Denny’s knew they wanted to do it again—but bigger and better. The latest installment of Denny’s Breakfast Stuff Network has me geeking out. Pancake, from The Grand Slams, spent about a half hour on a live video stream doing questions & answers with fans while also giving away some rad Denny’s swag. Check out some of the stuff they gave away:

If you were to tell me as a kid that when I was in my 30s I would be watching a computer screen and interacting with an animated pancake hundreds of miles away from me I would have thought you were full of it. This guy’s off the cuff banter and “facts” are pretty entertaining to watch even now that the event is over:

Unboxing videos are all the rage now right? Kids love watching toys get unboxed. Many adults, like myself, like to watch unboxing videos of the latest tech gadgets. This “ForkPro Unboxing” spoof video released by Denny’s is a hilarious jab at those of us who like watching such videos. It’s a fork specifically designed for the new 50% fluffier pancakes at Denny’s. The video’s presentation, commentary, and examples given in the video are dead on and pretty amusing.

The response to the first live video was tremendous. Denny’s gave away nearly 1,500 different items and had participation from 47 different states. The video that was part of that campaign earned 17 million impressions across all of their digital platforms, including 2 million 100% completed views. The Facebook live event with the Grand Slams was a first for the company, but I hope to see it happen again in the future. It was a super fun event worth repeating.
