A new documentary film titled “COLOR” is set to take viewers on a journey exploring the significance of color in different cultures and environments. The film, directed by John Campbell and featuring contemporary abstract painter Alteronce Gumby, seeks to delve into the various ways in which color impacts our lives.
The documentary will explore the cultural significance of color, starting with the Holi Festival in India, which celebrates the arrival of spring and the colors of nature. The film will also travel to New Orleans, Louisiana to experience the vibrant celebration of Mardi Gras, which incorporates various cultural traditions and symbolism through its use of color.
The film will also examine the scientific and natural aspects of color, such as the Northern Lights in Norway, which demonstrate the impact of magnetic fields on the Earth’s atmosphere. The documentary will also take a closer look at the coral reefs in Australia and the vital role that color plays in the ecosystem.
Interviews with notable figures and visits to locations such as The American Natural History Museum and The Metropolitan Museum of Art will provide further insight into the history and cultural significance of color. Director John Campbell expressed his excitement for the project, stating that “writing and directing this feature documentary has been a great highlight in my career.”
“COLOR” is a joint production between JCINTIME,LLC and Alteronce Gumby, and filming has already taken place in New Orleans and Madura, India, with interviews conducted with Tomashi Jackson, Michael Ambron, and Cara Piazza. The release date for the documentary is yet to be announced.
