I grew up watching Star Trek reruns on TV and watched the movies on repeat through elementary, middle and high school. Spock was an iconic character from the future brought to life in only the way Leonard Nimoy could have done. I had wanted to meet him in person, but sadly was never afforded the chance. The way I view the world was largely shaped by this practical and logical (sometimes even playful) character in a fictitious science fiction universe. I'm sad to see him gone.

I was clueless when I first became a dad. My childcare experience consisted of knowing that dropping a baby is bad and how to make peanut butter & jelly sandwiches. The first diaper I ever changed was Mr. Dude's on the day he was born. I'd "watched" my nephews once or twice, but never for over an hour and always with the assistance of a television.
My wife and I got married young. I worked at a grocery store and she at a fast food restaurant back then. We were happy, but didn't have much. The household items we owned were basic and mostly got the job done. That was almost ten years ago. We've not been pleased with any of the vacuums we've used over the last several years. That is until we got the new Dyson Cinetic Big Ball Animal + Allergy.
I remember watching my son sleep when he was a newborn. Those moments were precious and often happened only in the afternoon in the early days of my fatherhood. Those sleepless nights were full of frustration, exhaustion and time that seemed to slow to a crawl. In a way and for some odd reason I miss it a little.
I love television and the access to laughs, tears and hope for the future that it gives me. Netflix builds on the awesomeness of TV and lets me take it whenever and pretty much wherever I want. Highlighted below you'll see some of the shows on Netflix that I just can't get enough of right now. What ones do you like most?
It is almost the end of January 2015 and I thought it would be appropriate to highlight some of the gear I'm using to help make my everyday life with a toddler better. These items are some of my favorite things since sliced bread. Seriously, each of these items make being a parent easier in their own way. Check out these six items and let me know if you've tried any of them yourself.
My wife is a flight attendant and sometimes travels to some pretty great locations for work. This last weekend was...
Thanks for the rocky start. I hope this means you’ve got some seriously good stuff waiting for me later on...
Everything was happening in slow motion. All the sounds around us were muffled. The water coming out of the faucet. My son's body twitching and then going limp. His clenched jaw and me splashing that cold water on his body. I kept saying "I love you son, breath. Breath. Please breath!"
This is Mr. Dude's second Christmas and he's still learning about Christmas trees. He only sees all sorts of interesting things to play with and take apart.
Here are a few things I found to help our fussy little guy calm down when he wasn't an adorable sleeping baby.
Disclosure: I’ve joined the Netflix #StreamTeam and have been compensated for writing this post. I love this time of the year. The visits with family, home cooked meals and travel plans are all a part of this wonderful yearly ritual. Christmas movies are often lumped into the list. Who hasn’t watched...
I visited Applebee's to try out the new Applebee's All-In Triple Bacon Burger. Sounds amazing, right? Find out if the burger lived up to its name.
It's that time of year again. People spend a lot of time indoors. The shopping centers are packed and people share germs. Here are a few tips on avoiding the sicknesses that travel from person to person every holiday season.
I consider my wife to be my best friend. We're a team that can conquer almost anything when we're on the same page. We've got a lot of shared experiences and stories and love spending time with each other. In many ways were are like Kirk and Spock from Star Trek, except with more romance. I'm gonna get in trouble for that reference aren't I?
When I was growing up Halloween was something my parents didn't celebrate and I feel like I missed out. I want my son to experience the fun it can bring.
We are a one car family & each of us has a schedule to keep. That means lots of texting "Where are you?" Last month we found an app that makes it easier.
We all know these drivers. We deal with them when going to work and school on a daily basis. There seems to be more of them on the road every year around the holidays. I think they might need a little more understanding than we’d like to give. After all, they...
A toddler's nose is like a Swiss Army Knife. It has a multitude of uses. All of which are dependent on its working properly. Here are a few:
It was only a few weeks ago that Mr. Dude couldn't walk without assistance. Now he can do it like a pro.
